Why hello there! Its been awhile, hasn't it? I started this blog some time ago with the best intentions, but then life, as it does, takes you in a different direction. In recent months, I have rediscovered the simple pleasures of being at home, enjoying new hobbies and learning new skills. One such skill that I am absolutely ecstatic about is playing the piano! And truth be told, it is in fact my son who is learning to play, but I am happily along for the ride.

Our musical adventure began several weeks ago when a random Facebook advertisement caught my eye. The company "Prodigies Music" turned out to be exactly what I didn't know I needed! Their music education program is geared towards kids anywhere from infancy through elementary age. For reference, my children are 5 and 8, and both are thoroughly enjoying the program.

Here's a snippet from their website to give you an idea of some of the offerings.

I honestly can't say enough great things about this program! The videos are fun and engaging, the color coded system makes it very easy for beginners, and the kids genuinely love learning! Watching my son sit at the piano and fill our home with music just makes this mama's heart so happy!

If you want to check it out for yourself, you can test the waters with a FREE 30 day trial, using the link below. I personally signed up for a 1 year subscription and couldn't be happier! Since we aren't rushing around quite like we used to, there is more time to fill with a rewarding new skill such as this perfect addition to our virtual/homeschool day!

The majority of the videos you can access through your subscription are for general music education. All of these lessons can be completed with desk bells (we ordered these but don't have them just yet, so more to come in another post about bells!). But, you can also easily adapt the lessons to other instruments and they have a brand new program specifically just for the piano!

In addition to the videos, we are working through several songbooks as well as free downloads of color coded sheet music, all through Prodigies Music. The bells, the sheet music, its all the same color coded system, and they even make piano stickers! I could have certainly used these as a kid during my own piano lesson days, (many) years ago! I might finally learn the correct note names for the black keys now!

My Favorite Things

If this all sounds like something you might want to try out with your kids, here are a few of my favorite products to help get you started on your own musical adventure! Each of these items we personally own and I give my seal of approval!

The piano stickers are the same shown in my photo above. Seriously, where were these when I was kid learning to play?!?

The two song books are great for beginners, following the color coded system for notes. My 8 year old was able read music and play the songs in these books within 3 weeks of video lessons!

Creativity comes in many forms, from art to music, to simply using your imagination and dreaming. I can truthfully say, I love to be creative in every possible way.
